Both Barnardo's and Sue Ryder on Chester Street in Market Drayton had break-ins between 5.20pm on Tuesday and 8.50am yesterday.

Police say the cash float, a box of new stationery and a blue donation box were stolen from the Sue Ryder branch, which adds up to about £60 in cash.

The Barnardo's shop also reported a break-in, in which a bottle of brandy donated for their tombola prize was stolen.

Lisa Holle, deputy manager of the Barnando's shop, said: "They stole a bottle of brandy which was kindly donated to us by Wetherspoon and we were saving as our main raffle prize.

"It is not very nice and very unkind.

"We have never had an incident like this before and all staff members are in shock."

West Mercia Police has issued an appeal for information.
