The panel at Shrewsbury Crown Court examined the knife allegedly used by Alan David Evans to stab Jermaine Moore in the summer.

Evans, 37, denies wounding with intent and having a bladed article outside the Station Hotel in Wellington, Telford.

The 20-year-old stab victim spent eight days in hospital with a punctured kidney, the court heard.

Brothers David and Mark Panasiuk were supervising the door at the Station Road pub on July 11 when the alleged attack took place.

"I couldn't make out what it was but it was five or six inches long and he was holding it up his right arm which was down by the side of his body.

"He made a body blow at Jermaine.

I thought he had been stabbed because a patch appeared on his belly.

"His top was glistening. It was wet.

"And the implement or whatever it was in the man's hand made me think he had been stabbed. I said to him I think you've been stabbed can you lift up your top and then the blood poured out. He started feeling faint so we put him on the bench. I called the ambulance and police."

Mark Panasiuk said he had seen the knife in Evans' hand before the attack.

He said: "It had a brown handle and had two gold studs on it and a gold metal protector. The blade in it was about six inches long. It looked like new. Like it had never been used. He hid it up his arm so it was protected by his arm so you couldn't see it."

Miss Siobhan Collins, prosecuting, told the jury a fight had broken out between the defendant and Mr Moore after Evans believed his dog had been kicked.

The trial continues.
