A notice was published on the website of Express Cafes, based in Express House on the Oxon Business Park in Shrewsbury, that it was to enter liquidation after a major financial backer withdrew its support, removing its main source of funding.

Now, following a meeting of creditors in Manchester, Alan Fallows of Kay Johnson Gee Corporate Recovery has been appointed as liquidator.

A resolution was also passed at the creditors' meeting that the company be voluntarily wound up.

The company website shows a portfolio that includes providing catering for Chelsea FC, the Ryder Cup and at Twickenham, the English national rugby stadium.

Last year it partnered Reggae Reggae Sauce entrepreneur Levi Roots to launch chicken and beef burger trailers for use at outdoor events. It also worked with the West Cornwall Pasty Company, Costa and Pimms on branded catering vans.

But it was unable to tackle its cashflow problems.
