Homeless man jailed for Shrewsbury thefts

A homeless man has been jailed after a string of thefts from a Shrewsbury store.

Gary Bailey, 36, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing wine, salmon and meat on four separate occasions over three days from Waitrose.

Telford magistrates heard yesterday that Bailey had become homeless, penniless and had an alcohol problem. Magistrates gave him a total of eight weeks in prison and slapped him with a fine of £80.
