A 62-year-old man, a 60-year-old and a 49-year-old woman were arrested as part of a Dyfed Powys Police investigation at Womaston Care Home at Walton near Presteigne, Powys.

They are now on bail pending further enquiries.

Dyfed Powys Police launched an investigation into allegations of physical abuse by members of staff at the care home and school in May.

A spokeswoman said: "Police are working closely with members of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales to fully investigate the allegations.

"Due to the nature of the enquiry and complex needs of the victims, this investigation may take many months.

"Throughout this time the police will work closely with all agencies involved and the victims and families of those affected will receive ongoing support.

"The safety, welfare and protection of vulnerable adults/children will be the absolute priority of all the organisations involved."

Womaston School and Care Home closed its doors for the last time on August 31 this year
