Iron Bridge proposal mystery solved
When a banner with the words "Will you marry me?" appeared on Shropshire's famous Iron Bridge, the search was on to find the mystery romantic.
People were so intrigued to know if the answer was "yes" that the Shropshire Star put out an appeal to find the lovebird responsible.
Scores of Facebook likes, shares and tweets later and the mystery romantic came forward.
She is Rebecca Simpson, 36, and she revealed that she had proposed to her partner Wayne Fitzpatrick, 34.
"I'm happy to say that Wayne said 'yes', said Rebecca. "We're over the moon to be engaged. It was love at first sight."
The couple, who live on Ironbridge High Street, met last year on a dating website.
Months later, Rebecca moved to Shropshire from Lancaster with her 11-year-old son Jamie.
She said: "Wayne used to come and visit me every week in Lancaster so I wanted to do something for him.
"My son Jamie got a big sheet and made the banner with my neighbour Hayley using red paint.
"We only live two minutes away from the Iron Bridge so I blindfolded him and walked him on to the bridge. As soon as I took the blindfold off he said 'yes'. It was fantastic.
"Jamie and Hayley were hiding round the corner so they came running over to us to celebrate.
"We had a glass of wine on the bridge and, despite the wind and rain, it was the perfect moment."
The banner has since been removed.
Rebecca who works at Riverside Tearooms in Ironbridge, and Wayne, who is a welder for Webster and Wilkinson in Madeley, are planning a forest wedding with family, friends and live music.
It is hoped they will tie the knot sometime next year
