Police investigate spate of thefts in Newtown

Police in Newtown are investigating a series of burglaries and thefts from gardens and vehicles.

The first theft took place in Edwards Field, Newtown, sometime between October 3 and 6. A vehicle had its fuel tank drilled open and petrol removed.

On October 4 gardening equipment and tools were taken from a farm near Guilsfield.

A shed near Tregynon was broken into between 7pm on October 8 and 5.30pm on October 9.

Thieves stole an electric 110 orange Bell cement mixer, a black petrol hedge trimmer, a red Mitsubishi petrol generator, and a petrol powered JSB Beaverpack hydraulic for a jack hammer. Two tins of paint and a padlock from a trailer were taken in the Sarn area between 9.30pm on October 9 and midday on October 11.

Finally a black chimenea was taken from a garden in the Lon Derw area of the town. This occurred sometime between 9.30pm on October 9 and noon on October 13.

Anyone who has information about any of these crimes or who has been offered the opportunity to buy the items taken is asked to contact Constable Burrows at Newtown Police Station on 101.
