Veteran Shropshire journalist Russell Mulford dies aged 84

Veteran Shropshire journalist Russell Mulford has died at the age of 84.

Mr Mulford was well known for reporting on Shrewsbury Town matches for BBC Radio Shropshire in the 1980s and 90s. He also hosted the popular Sunday morning programme Ring Russell.

In a long and distinguished career, Mr Mulford also wrote for the the Shrewsbury Chronicle in the 1950s, ran a freelance news agency and had stints in charge of publicity for the RAF Cosford Air Show and the West Mid Show. He also served as president of various groups, including the Shropshire Railway Society.
