Three fire engines, from Baschurch and Oswestry, raced to the blaze, in the village of Kinnerley, near Oswestry, after reports were received that someone was trapped in the two-storey burning building.

Crews used four breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a main jet and thermal imaging cameras to tackle the fire, which broke out at 4am today.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Fire had broken out on the ground floor of a two-storey property, which measured approximately 10m x 30m. All persons and pets were out of property prior to arrival of the Fire Service."
