Man taken to hospital after accident near Oswestry

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after being involved in an accident in a north Shropshire village.

The accident happened at about 7.35am today in Boot Street, Whittington, when the man was involved in a collision with a car.

The air ambulance was called out and the road was closed by police, but the man suffered only minor injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Steve Parry said: "The incident involved a male in his 20s. He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance with relatively minor injuries.

"The air ambulance and land ambulance were there and both paramedics assessed him at the scene and treated him for minor injuries. He was taken to hospital for further observation and assessment.

Boot Street, which is one of the main roads between Oswestry and Ellesmere, was reopened at about 8.30am.
