Telford & Wrekin Council may ban political posters from its land

Plans have been put forward to ban political groups and candidates from putting up posters on council-owned land in Telford.

Published

Telford & Wrekin Council's returning officer Richard Partington has proposed the move after a number of posters were daubed with offensive symbols and language during this year's European elections.

Mr Partington said Telford would be following the lead of a number of other local authorities in making such a ban and has written to election agents, parish councils and leaders of all political groups seeking their views before making a final decision.

Anyone with any views on this issue can submit them to electoralsevices@telford.gov.uk or by writing to Electoral Services, Telford & Wrekin Council, Addenbrooke House, Ironmasters Way, Telford TF3 4NT by November 14.
