The new Lepone's will see the move of the popular Italian restaurant from its 12-year home in Salop Road to a former 18th century church in Oswald Road.

Owners Paolo and Caroline Lepone say that their new premises will also house an Italian deli, a coffee shop and a wine bar.

They are also creating an outdoor seating area and there will be a mezzanine within the historic building.

Mr Lepone said he fell in love with the former Presbyterian church immediately he stepped inside.

He said: "I love old buildings and the architecture of this building is beautiful."

"We hope to be open in time for Christmas."
