The blaze broke out at a house in Winifred's Drive in Donnington just before 9pm - and the initial 999 call suggested there was a young woman still in the building.

Firefighters attended the scene and put the fire out - and found there had been no-one inside the building.

It took 40 minutes to put out the flames, which were confined to the ground floor.

The extent of the damage inside the house is unknown, and a scenes of crime officer was due to visit the site on Saturday to investigate the cause.

Three fire engines from Telford Central and Wellington used two hose reel jets to douse the flames.
