The fire was started near the pool in Leegate Avenue, Leegomery, shortly before 11pm yesterday.

A crew from Wellington Station used a hose reel jet to put out the blaze, which was contained within the bin.

But the crew later urged anyone who has any information about who may have been responsible for the fire to contact police, warning that arson can lead to deaths and serious injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Telford police on 101.

It comes as Shropshire fire and rescue service said there had been five deliberate fires set in the past six days in Leegomery and Ketley.

A car, wheelie bins, litter bins, old sofas and dumped furniture have been set alight, they said.
