The 26-year-old fitness instructor set herself the challenge of completing 53 marathons in 53 days to raise funds for charity.

She completed her 41st marathon in Swansea yesterday and is now getting closer to home and the end of her challenge.

She has now raised more than £14,300 for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of early diagnosis of brain tumours in children and young adults.

Today Amy was running in the Gloucester area before heading to Hereford tomorrow.

And she will be coming back to the Shropshire area next week to run in Shrewsbury on Monday, Wrexham the following day, Oswestry on September 24 and Llangollen on September 25, before finishing in Manchester on September 27.

"To be honest I am really enjoying it," said Amy, who is from West Felton, near Oswestry. "The blisters have gone and I am only on my second pair of trainers, although I am getting through a fair few pairs of socks."

Her fundraising has received a boost from Hartshorns Cakes in Oswestry, which has pledged to donate an entire day's takings to the collection.

Amy has already smashed the record for the most marathons completed consecutively by a female athlete, which previously stood at 19.

The Isabelle Lottie Foundation was set up by three-year-old Izzy's parents Gareth and Rebecca Wynne, from Wrexham, after the youngster was diagnosed with medulloblastoma.
