The 26-year-old fitness instructor, from West Felton, near Oswestry, has now run more than 1,000 miles as she aims to complete 53 marathons in 53 days.

She completed a marathon in Welsh capital Cardiff yesterday and today moves on to Swansea.

She will run in Shrewsbury on September 22, Wrexham the following day, Oswestry on September 24 and Llangollen on September 25, before finishing in Manchester on September 27.

If she completes the challenge, Amy will set a world record for the most marathons completed consecutively. She has already been crowned world record holder for smashing the record for a female athlete, which previously stood at 19.

She completed one marathon last week despite being ill through the night and said she has been encouraged by people turning out to support her and run with her for part of the way.

She said: "I have been really surprised at how lovely some of the towns and cities have been.

"There has been incredible support from friends and from complete strangers who are running or cycling with me. They have made all the difference."

Amy is raising money for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation which aims to raise awareness of early diagnosis of brain tumours in children and young adults and she has already raised more than £14,000.

The foundation was set up by three-year-old Izzy's parents Gareth and Rebecca Wynne, from Wrexham, after the youngster was diagnosed with medulloblastoma – a specific type of brain tumour which mainly affects children between the ages of three and eight.
