ShropshireStar.com making the headlines as visitor figures soar

Shropshirestar.com has smashed through a new milestone - with more than three-quarter of a million readers each month.

Official figures reveal that we're now being visited by an average of 41,952 browsers every day, and 221,866 each week. In print, the Shropshire Star continues to be one of the biggest regional newspapers in the country, with an average daily sale of 36,756.

The stats, from the Audited Bureau of Circulation, show that 825,568 visitors worldwide are dropping in to the website on average each month. That's a whopping 74 per cent up on the same period last year. May this year was our strongest month ever, with 878,435 visitors.

In June when traffic chaos ensued in Shropshire after a fatal car accident on the A5, more than 60,000 kept up with the developing news online.

Our coverage of the mid-February storms saw 41,000 views of our detailed coverage, with readers flooding us with their own photos of the damage, helping us reflect the situation across the whole county.

Expats around the world are staying in touch with developments back home, with hundreds of thousands of clicks from the US, Australia, Spain, Canada and Germany. Figures show we've even had visits from Vatican City, the Faroe Islands and El Salvador.
