Lead flashing was stripped from the roof of Aldi, in Beatrice Street, Oswestry, overnight on August 21 and 22 and the shop was targeted again in the early hours of August 25.

Work is currently being carried out on the shop to extend the entrance and is expected to last for another couple of weeks.

The shop is currently trading at full capacity and a second Aldi is being proposed for a site on the edge of the town on Maesbury Road Industrial Estate. Up to 40 new jobs are expected to be created at the new store.

An Aldi spokesman said: "We are currently assisting the police with their inquiries.

"Our schedule for the renovation work remains on course, and at this point it would be inappropriate for us to comment any further."

Information on the thefts can be given to the police by calling 101, quoting incident number S182 22/8/14 for the first theft and S299 26/8/14 for the second.
