Car damaged in suspected Shropshire arson attack

A car parked in the driveway of a Shropshire house was damaged in a possible arson attack today.

The fire started shortly before 3.45am in Mill Street, Wem.

Crews from Wem fire station were called out and used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "It was a reasonably small fire and there was no damage to the house.

"The cause is doubtful, so we have informed the police."

Anyone with information on how the fire started is asked to contact police on 101.
