Plans for 500 homes at former Telford factory site

Plans for more than 500 homes on the site of a former factory in Apley, Telford, have been submitted to the council.

J-Ross Developments is applying for permission to build up to 540 houses and public open space at the former Maxell Plastic Mouldings factory site off the A442.

Documents submitted with the planning application say the 24.57 hectare site "unfortunately is no longer suitable for employment purposes and is much more suited to a residential led development that will be able to contribute positively toward the area and respect its character".

If approved, the development would include affordable homes, new streets, footpaths and open space. It would be supported by a local centre which the applicants claim would deliver jobs.

Plans will now be considered by Telford & Wrekin Council.
