Galiford Try Partnerships has secured planning permission for a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom family houses and one-bedroom apartments at land next to Lightmoor View, in Brick Kiln Bank.

Properties to be built by Galiford Try will include 36 affordable homes for The Wrekin Housing trust and 36 houses for Linden Homes on the site of the former Ibstock Brickworks.

Sarah Flaherty, project manager for The Wrekin Housing Trust, said: "We look forward to starting on site before the end of the year."

The trust's affordable homes will include two and three-bedroom family houses and one-bedroom apartments to help those affected by the Government's spare room subsidy – the so-called "bedroom tax" – move into smaller properties.
