Camelot said a winning ticket had been bought in Shropshire for the draw on June 28, but up until last week no-one had come forward to claim it.

Syndicate leader and mother-of-four Lita Powney said she immediately recognised the winning numbers after reading an appeal for the winners to come forward in the Shropshire Star.

The seven strong syndicate of Mrs Powney, Jenny Jones, Angela Orpe, Josie Bromley, Joyce Hopkins and Janice Head have been playing the lottery since it started.

They said as part of a previously agreed deal Lita would get £351,501.33 while the other six members will pocket £116,167.11 each.
