And that is the word she used to describe tragic Telford student Georgia Williams in front of her family and more than 100 budding businesswomen in Telford.

She was speaking at an event aimed at encouraging more women to consider careers in business by "sticking together to overcome prejudice".

The speech was about ambition, direction and attitude – it ended with Ms Brady telling the audience to remember that "behind every successful man, there is a surprised woman".

Ms Brady, 45, told an audience of about 100 women, including Georgia's mother, Lynnette Williams: "When I hear stories about young people like Georgia, that is why I campaign for women in business.

"Georgia had ambition and there is nothing wrong with ambition."

She spoke about challenges she has faced during her career, as former managing director of Birmingham City Football Club and current vice-chairman of West Ham United.

After the event Mrs Williams said: "The turnout was fantastic, I am so pleased.

"It was 'wow' when I heard Karren was coming but it is perfect because Georgia knew all about Karren Brady because she was into football and she did what she wanted to do."

The event was organised by Conservative parliamentary candidate for Telford Lucy Allan.
