Shropshire border assault case gun rumour dismissed

A man from Kington was injured in an altercation at the weekend.

Rumours that there had been a shooting in the Hereford/Shropshire border town were dismissed by West Mercia Police.

Police officers said they were called to an incident in the Oxford Lane area of Kington, just before 1.30am yesterday.

"It is believed that an altercation had taken place and a man in his 20s, from the Kington area, suffered a non life-threatening injury. Officers are investigating the incident," a spokesman said.

Witnesses are asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 90S of July 27.

Two men, who are aged 18 and 34 and also from the Kington area, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
