Ludlow river body find man named

A man who was found dead in the River Teme after he went missing has been named.

The body of Martin Powell-Bevan, 49, of Wheeler Road, Ludlow was discovered in the river by a fire service water rescue crew at about 6.30pm on Tuesday.

An inquest into Mr Powell-Bevan's death is now due to be opened on Tuesday. Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A search had begun for Mr Powell-Bevan after his family raised concerns about his whereabouts at about 10am Tuesday morning.

A river search was mounted that evening involving Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service boat crews and the police helicopter after his car was found near the river on Temeside in Ludlow.

Mr Powell-Bevan's body was recovered from the water shortly after.
