A mother-of-four who was attacked in front of her children has spoken out abut her ordeal, and says she feels "let down" by the criminal justice system.

Tracie Hall from Mary Webb Road in Shrewsbury was punched in the face by her neighbour Alan Manning, and has been left with permanent scarring above her right eye.

Now terrified to leave the house, the health care assistant said she is "gutted" after Manning was given a supervision order and unpaid work.

Mrs Hall, 40, said: "I've lived in the area for 12 years, and Manning moved in around Christmas time.

"Our children were friends, they had a few disagreements and we decided it would be best if they stayed away from each other.

"Other than that we didn't have any problems, kids will be kids and I thought that was all there was to it."

Manning burst into Mrs Hall's home on May 11 and punched her in the face, after a court was told he had "exploded" in anger.

Mrs Hall said: "My little boy Joshua who is 12 came running into the house and said Manning was chasing him.

"The next thing I knew Manning was at the door clenching his fists and he swung at me after he kicked down my fence.

"He hit me in front of my children, I was semi-unconscious and bleeding.

"I had a two inch laceration above my eye and my nose was fractured, I was taken to Princess Royal Hospital because they thought I would need plastic surgery."

Mrs Hall has since returned to work as a health care assistant, but is reminded by the incident every time she looks in the mirror.

She said: "I don't know what to do anymore because every time I look in the mirror the scar is there and it will never go away.

"I can't get a bus to work anymore and I lock my doors and windows, it has really effected my children.

"The worst thing is that he's living right next door to me, who will be his next victim?

"My husband feels guilty and part of me wants to move.

"I'm completely traumatised by it and I think £66 in compensation is absolutely disgusting.

"I thought he would at least get 18 months in jail, I was left covered in blood and I'm still scared.

"Who else is going to have to suffer because of him."

Manning, who also assaulted Mindy Evans in a separate incident, was given a 12-month supervision order and told to complete 100 hours of unpaid work at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
