Man charged over stabbing outside Telford hotel

A 37-year-old man has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm after a man was stabbed in the back outside a Telford Hotel.

Alan David Evans, of Mercia Drive, Leegomery, was arrested in connection with the attack outside the Station Hotel, in Station Road, Wellington.

He is accused of stabbing a 20-year-old man in the lower back causing him life-threatening injuries.

The victim required surgery after the assault at 11.40pm on Friday and police say he is not longer in a critical condition.

Evans is in custody and is due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday, July 21.
