Officers from North Wales Police were called to assist with traffic control after the load fell off the lorry at a roundabout on the A5 near Chirk at about 1pm.

Police said nobody was injured in the incident but part of the road had to be closed for a short time to allow the recovery of the wood.

North Wales Police spokesman Mark McGivern said a lorry carrying wood for Chirk wood panel factory Kronospan had been involved in the spill.

He said staff from Kronospan had been sent to the scene to help remove the wood from the road.

Mr McGivern said: "It appears the wood came off as the lorry was going around the roundabout.

"We sent officers at about 12.50pm and we did have to close a part of the road."

Candida Pryce-Jones, spokeswoman for Kronospan, said: "One of our contractors lost part of their load at the roundabout. We apologise for any inconvenience.

"We sent staff to remove the wood, which was a load of melamine boards, from the road."
