Organised by Great Dawley Town Council, the day of fun was held in Doseley Road Playing Fields and Dawley Park on Saturday.

The event has been running for the past 20 years to help raise money for the Severn Hospice and the children's ward at Telford's Princess Royal Hospital.

On the day there was a climbing wall, bouncy castles, demonstrations by the fire and police services, five-a-side football, face painting, stalls, a craft fair, food and ice creams as well as a host of other activities.

Meanwhile, local running club the Wrekin Road Runners hosted Dawley Day's fun run.

The event was attended by David Wright MP and Lord Grocott, former MP for the Wrekin.

Lord Grocott even managed to hit the target on a Whack the Rat game which, on its own, raised £250 for Severn Hospice.

Dawley Day has been celebrated in the town for more than 20 years.

Great Dawley Town Council will also be organising Malinslee Day, which will take place in the town on July 26 on the Playing Fields behind the Church Wickets Pub.

The event will see a Fields in the Trust ceremony take place which will safeguard the Malinslee playing fields forever as part of the Queen Elizabeth II Fields in Trust Programme.

One field will be named St Leonards Field in recognition of the St. Leonard's Church which is nearby, while the second field will be named Prince George Field after the young son of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
