Letter: Heartening to see backing for party

The Shropshire Star follow-up report on the Euro elections 'Where do we go from here?' May 31, didn't contain any comments from Ukip, the party which actually won the election, both in Shropshire and nationwide.

Still, it was heartening to see local people standing up for us, people who have clearly had enough of out-of-touch politicians with no idea of what real life is like in Shropshire.

The Tory and Labour clones make and break promises with abandon. But Ukip politicians are clear about where they stand on issues such as EU membership, immigration, stopping greenbelt development and cutting fuel bills.

We in Ukip have had real jobs and real struggles and can therefore 'say it like it is.'

This is why we won the Euro elections and why a recent poll suggested 86 per cent of those who voted Ukip in them will vote Ukip again in the 2015 General Election.

Here in Shrewsbury and Atcham we have just selected a marvellous prospective parliamentary candidate in Suzanne Evans, who sits on Nigel Farage's front bench team as communities spokesman (you may have seen her on TV programmes such as Question Time and Newsnight.)

Suzanne was born and educated in Shrewsbury, and worked here for many years. She has deep local roots and national experience and will make a great MP.
