Shropshire drivers hit by another road closure
Motorists are facing more problems travelling in and around Shropshire, with yet another road closure.
The B4393 between Llansanffraid and Carreghofa near Oswestry was closed today and is expected to remain shut for up to seven weeks.
Water mains renewal in the area is the recent for the closure.
The latest closure comes on the back of more announcements of road closures and temporary for Shropshire.
Both the A5 at Nesscliffe and the A483 at Pant, busy trunk roads near Oswestry, will have traffic lights and some night closures this month.
Drivers will be sent on a 26-mile diversion around the north of the county and Mid Wales.
The B4393 is a smaller road but still popular with drivers heading to the coast.
Bus company, Tanat Valley Local Bus Services, said its services, 72 and 74 would be affected.
Nick Culliford, from the company, said: "Bus services from Llanfyllin and Llansanffraid to Oswestry and Shrewsbury will be diverted via Llynclys as was the case in 2013 when Llansanffraid Bridge was closed for major repairs. The service 74 to Shrewsbury will depart Llanfyllin and Llansanffraid five minutes earlier than normal and the 72 service from Llanfyllin to Oswestry will operate nine minutes later than normal from Llanymynech into Oswestry."
The night closure of the A483 through Pant has been criticised by those living in the village.
The Highways Agency is carrying out the resurfacing work on the A5 Nesscliffe Bypass and the replacement of lighting cables on the A483 at Pant.
Work began last week on the £70,000 scheme in Pant, with temporary daytime traffic signals in place until May 21.
Work on the A5 between the Wolfshead roundabout and the Felton Butler roundabout will include closures every night between 8pm and 6am until June 2. During the closures, traffic will be diverted through Nesscliffe village along the old A5.
The southbound carriageway of a major artery through the south of Shropshire will also be closed for three nights later this month. The A49 between the B4361 and Sheet Roundabout, near Ludlow, Shropshire, will shut overnight from May 19 to 21 for resurfacing work.
