Shropshire barbecue drama as gas canister catches fire

A bank holiday barbecue in Shropshire was brought to a halt when a gas canister caught fire.

Firefighters were called to the property in Market Drayton yesterday, shortly before 7pm, and cooled down the area using one hose reel jet.

A car was also severely damaged in Brookside, Telford, last night.

A fire crew was called out to the saloon in Crebe Close shortly before 10.30pm. The flames were put out within 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is being probed.

A hundred metres of recycling wood was also set alight on an industrial estate in Telford.

Firefighters put out the blaze in Halesfield shortly after 2.15pm yesterday.

Two wheelie bin rubbish skips also caught fire by KFC at the Wrekin Retail Park in Wellington, Telford, in the early hours of today.
