Shropshire fire crews help rescue cow stuck in slurry pit

A rescue operation was carried out after a cow became stuck in a slurry pit at a Shropshire farm.

The heifer became stuck at a farm in Marton, Baschurch, at 7.02pm yesterday.

A vet and fire crews spent almost two hours freeing the animal.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The heifer was stuck in a slurry pit and was not very happy so was sedated by a vet called to the scene."

The spokeswoman added: "The animal was then rescued by fire service personnel using animal rescue equipment and a rescue tender."
