Jewellery shop thief makes off with ring in Telford

A thief snatched an engagement ring, worth several thousand pounds, out of the hand of a shop assistant in Telford.

The man had entered a jewellery shop on New Street in Wellington, where he asked staff if he could look at some engagement rings. He asked to look more closely at one ring in particular which he then snatched from a female member of staff.

He was last seen running near the Wellington Medical Practice.

The crime took place at around 3pm yesterday and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the man, or may know where the ring can be found.

The man is described as in his late 30s, about 5ft 9inches tall, with dark hair, slim build and as wearing a white shirt with a dark blue tie and grey trousers. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 343S 150414.
