A Shropshire man is trying to put together the county's first boyband and is appealing for members.

Matt Butler from Shrewsbury is launching his second attempt to make a band, after a first attempt couldn't attract the right people.

Now, he is hoping that with a new recruitment push and the right auditionees, he will be able to put Shropshire on the musical map.

Mr Butler, 23, said: "I'm afraid the manager I was working with at the time and I weren't successful in finding the suitable members for it.

"This year the project does have the chance for big management as I have contacts inside the music industry who are interested in the idea of a boyband with sweet harmonies and who can dance like bands such as The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC or Take That.

"I think it would be good for the county and for the West Midlands to have a boyband which can challenge big bands of today such as One Direction and Union J."

However, Mr Butler, is hoping that this new group will be able to offer something that existing bands don't have

"There are a lot of bands around like One Direction, but they don't have any vocal harmonies, the kind of things that groups like Boys2Men used to have.

"The only band that used to have something like that is JLS and they have split up now so I think there is a gap in the market.

"I think it would be quite a good thing for the area to have, it would really help put Shropshire on the map."

Mr Butler was previously in a band in his teens but has been out of the music scene for about six years. He now has high hopes for this future group

"The band would hopefully be doing local gigs such as The Buttermarket and other venues up and down the county and then start to go up and down the country," he said "All I am looking for is three to four very talented lads between the ages of 18 and 24 who can sing and possibly play a musical instrument, who have a passion for music and have the drive to be successful."
