Man trapped under pallet in Telford accident

A man was taken to hospital with leg injuries after becoming trapped under a pallet in Telford today.

It is understood the man, thought to be in his 40s, had been moving turf when the pallet fell on him.

An ambulance was called to High Point in Little Wenlock at 9.30am.

The man was released but had suffered injuries to the lower part of his legs.

Medics gave him pain relief at the scene and he was taken by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

A fire engine and rescue tender from Wellington, another engine from Telford Central and an officer from Shrewsbury attended the scene.

The firefighters, who had been called by the ambulance service, found the man had been freed by the time they arrived.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service left the scene by 9.50am.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent one ambulance and found the patient trapped underneath a pallet.

"He was released and was suffering from a lower limb injury.

"He was given pain relief and taken to the Princess Royal Hospital."
