The notorious Newport Road, in Albrighton, was closed in both directions between the junction of the A41 and Sandy Lane.

The road was also closed due to flooding in March. Meanwhile, high levels of air pollution affecting parts of Shropshire and Wales were today set to improve.

Shropshire and the border with Mid Wales, as well as Flintshire and Wrexham yesterday reported high or moderate levels of pollution.

Levels reached eight out of 10 on the Met Office scale.

Vulnerable people with lung and heart conditions, as well as those with asthma, were urged to take care.
