Woman injured in crash with lorry on A5 in Shropshire

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash today which closed the A5/A483 near Oswestry.

The collision, involving the woman's Ford Fiesta and a lorry happened at about 8.30am between the Gobowen and the Gledrid islands north of the town, close to the Grandad's layby cafe.

Police closed the road for emergency services to deal with the incident and to allow debris to be cleared from the carriageway. The road was reopened by 9.30am.

A spokesman for West Midlands ambulance said a woman in her 30s was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with injuries to her face and a broken ankle.
