Six cars in two crashes on M54 after sudden hailstorm

Six cars were involved in two crashes on separate sides of the M54 today. A sudden hailstorm is believed to have been a factor in the incidents between junctions three and four of the motorway.

Emergency services were alterted just before 10am.

Both incidents, one on the eastbound and one on the westbound side of the motorway, involved three vehicles.

The motorway was completely closed for a short time.

Two firecrewsfrom Telford Central fire station and an emergency tender from Wellington went to the scene.

No one was trapped and firefighters helped to make the vehicles safe.

Paramedics attended to casualties at the scene.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue service said bad weather at the time it believed to have caused the accidents. A hailstorm had hit the location.
