Telford child grooming sex abusers fail to get sentences cut

Two Shropshire brothers who coerced vulnerable underage girls into prostitution for their own sick satisfaction and profit have been told by top judges that their "very severe sentences" were not a day too long.

At Worcester Crown Court today, Ahdel and Mubarek Ali, both of Regent Street, Wellington, Telford, were convicted of a raft of offences against four youngsters, committed between March 2008 and December 2009.

Ahdel, 26, was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old, sexual activity with a child, controlling child prostitution, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, meeting a child following sexual grooming and inciting child prostitution, and was jailed for 18 years.

Mubarek, 30, was convicted of controlling child prostitution, trafficking for sexual exploitation and inciting child prostitution, and received 14 years.

They were each given eight-year extended licence periods on top of their jail terms and hit with stringent sexual offences prevention orders (SOPOs).

Lord Justice Davis, Mr Justice Blake and Judge Keith Cutler, sitting at London's Criminal Appeal Court, today threw out their challenges to the length of their sentences.
