The 10-year-old, who has not been named, was injured when an upright post on jungle gym play equipment snapped and landed on the side of the child at Newdale Primary School on The Rock.

Headteacher Rachel Cook said the boy is now back at school following the accident which lead to him suffering a bump to the back of his head, bruising to his shoulder, concussion and grazing.

A statement released by Telford & Wrekin Council on behalf of the Marlborough Way school said: "Newdale Primary School and the Health and Safety team at Telford & Wrekin Council are investigating.

"The jungle gym play equipment has been closed and all equipment of a similar age across the borough will be checked."
