For the 19-year-old left winger is Ludlow Ladies Football Club's international signing and one of their leading goalscorers.

Sara is repaying their faith by netting goal after goal for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League Club which is now sitting in second place.

In the club's last seven games, Sara has scored 10 goals – including a hat-trick.

The teenager, who hails from southern Sweden, is thrilled to be playing her favourite game here in England.

So much so she is extending her stay in the county so she can finish the football season with Ludlow Ladies.

Sara, who lives in Billeberga, near Helsinborg, is an au pair looking after the two young daughters of Henry and Sara Chance, of Middleton, near Ludlow.

She regularly plays the game at home where the sport is hugely popular among girls, who take it very seriously.

And when Henry and Sara, who also originates from Sweden, realised that Sara was missing playing football, they encouraged her to trial for Ludlow Ladies.

The club snapped her up and she has been playing ever since.

"Football is bigger for girls in Sweden than it is in England," said Sara. "I was training about seven times a week at home."

Soon after arriving in England, she realised that she was missing playing and was soon lacing up her football boots again.

"I have really enjoyed playing," she said. "I have scored 10 goals in seven games and it was quite fun to score a hat-trick," said Sara. She confesses that her favourite football team is not a Swedish team – it's Manchester United and her favourite player, "Messi, of course!"

The only thing Sara has had to get used to is playing football outside in all weathers.

The football season in Sweden is from April until September and then they go indoors and play. But she says it is a small price to pay for the game she loves.

"I love it here and I really want to finish the season playing for Ludlow Ladies," said Sara.

And the icing on the cake, she says, would be Ludlow Ladies clinching the title.

Club captain, Donna Powell, said the other players would be very sad to see Sara eventually leave.

The 22-year old forward, who has been playing football since she was at primary school, said: "She is a lovely girl and has fitted in so well, she has just become part of the team and we will all be sad to see her leave."

She said team members ranged from teenagers to players in their 30s and said new members were always wanted.
