Haybridge Road in Hadley, Telford, is set to become a casualty reduction site and officials at the Safer Roads Partnership are looking at ways of introducing mobile speed enforcement, Hadley and Leegomery parish councillors were told.

Jayden-Lee McIvor, nine, of Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery, died after a collision with a car on the road on February 2.

Driver Raja Khan, 19, also of Hurleybrook Way, is due in court on November 15 charged with causing Jayden's death by dangerous driving.

Councillor John Smart, chairman of Hadley and Leegomery Parish Council, said: "The Safer Road Partnership has agreed Haybridge Road will be a casualty reduction site and they are going to look at how to enforce mobile speed measures."

He said the partnership had also identified a problem with speeding on nearby Hadley Park Road and would be looking at taking action in the light of concerns from local people.

Meanwhile, lazy motorists who cause obstructions near Hadley's new Tesco supermarket will cause "a major accident", according to Councillor Gill Moore.

Speaking at the meeting of the council on Tuesday, she said: "Parking on the zebra crossing is getting out of hand and there is going to be a major accident."
