The 30-feet high adrenalin adventure has proved popular during the half term break, attracting the same visitor numbers expected in the height of summer.

Mel Ellis, company director of Closer to the Edge, who operate the Telford Town Park Ropes Course, said: "We're really excited about bringing the ropes course to Telford and the Town Park.

"We've been very pleased with the numbers who have turned up to have a go on the course this week – similar to those we'd expect in the height of summer elsewhere."

The venture is the result of a partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council and Closer to the Edge,

Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: "This summer has seen a number of new and exciting additions to the Town Park, including a sensory garden and a water play area and we're so pleased the new ropes course is proving so popular.

"The Town Park is a great day out for the whole family and one of the jewels in Telford's crown – it's a real asset to the borough and something we are committed to making the very most of."

The new facility is open every Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holiday and school holidays. In term time, the course is open to schools, youth groups, teams and corporate groups on weekdays. Booking is essential.

Minimum height for the tree trek and the high course is 150cm but anyone under this can be accompanied by someone over 150cm. Prices start at £5 for the Early Zone, from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Afternoon sessions start at 11.30am and cost from £10. Online booking is recommended to get a better deal.

There will be a Telford Loyalty Card offer of 10 per cent off weekend sessions between 9.45am to 11.45am – these sessions are non- bookable and are on a first come first serve basis.

This is the time that younger adventurers will be able to have a go.

The Ice Rink has 5,000 vouchers which are being handed out to TLC skate customers that give customers 15 per cent off pre-bookable high rope sessions.
