Telford teenager escapes knife robbers

A teenager fled two robbers, one of them armed with a knife, during an attempted robbery in Telford.

The robbers struck in the Brookside Avenue area of Brookside at about 3.30am on Saturday.

The 19-year-old victim was making his way home along a footpath between Bishopdale and Blakemore when he was approached by two men.

One of the men asked him if he could borrow a lighter but the victim said he did not have one. At this point one of the men pulled out a small knife and before asking him to empty his pockets and the victim fled on foot.

One of the robbers is described as being black and around 5ft 9 ins and the other was white and just over 6ft.
