Driver has to be cut out of car wreckage on A49

A woman had to be cut free from her vehicle after a two-car crash just before 5pm on Saturday at a roundabout on Shropshire's A49 which led to a road being closed for more than an hour.

Police were forced to close off a section of Foldgate Lane near to the Harry Tuffins roundabout on the outskirts of Ludlow.

The victim was taken to Hereford County Hospital with back injuries.

Inspector Andy Smith, of West Mercia Police, said the woman's injuries were not life-threatening.

He said the road was reopened by police at 6.15pm once cars had been cleared.
