James Farina is set to produce his pilot episode, For the Love of Ella, which stars plenty of Shropshire-based talent.

The 25-year-old from Alveley, near, Bridgnorth, has enlisted the help of the James Frizzell - manager of the Majestic Cinema, in Bridgnorth - to produce the film.

The pilot episode has been written by Bridgnorth writer, Simon Golding, a published author who has previously written for national magazines and Radio 4.

Lucy Drive, who has starred in TV dramas Hard Shoulder and Outside Bet, will take the lead role, alongside Ewan Macintosh, who found fame by playing Keith in The Office.

The cast also includes other well-known faces including Celebrity Big Brother 7 winner and cage fighter, Alex Reid, and TV presenter Melanie Sykes.

Mr Farina said: "We are now after sponsorship money to ensure the project gets off the ground.

"It is the perfect opportunity for local businesses to sponsor an independent media project, with us promoting their company in return.

"Even the smallest donation really would make a difference and we'll appreciate every penny."

Mr Farina, who recently received critical acclaim for his short film, Leu Doc, is also planning to produce a six-part series, following the pilot.

He said: "We are hoping to shoot it over 14 days in September. Once I have edited it I will take it to all of the major production companies and hopefully one of them will give us a chance."

The pilot tells the story of a Polish scientist who falls in love with an beautiful English rose, Ella.

He sets about trying to make a potion that will make him fall in love with her, and this is why Mr Farina also needs some donated science equipment, such as test tubes, glass flasks and periodic tables.

Mr Farina said: "We have everything ready to go we just need the funding to get the actors in and get it shot.

"We have set up a crowdfunding page, which means the amount of money you donate depends on the reward you get.

"For example, someone who donates £100 can be an extra in the first episode, and for £200 you can get a small speaking part.

"After that, the rewards just go up and up."

The production team currently needs to raise £8,000 to shoot the first episode and take it to major production companies.
