Traffic wardens off the streets of Telford & Wrekin
Traffic wardens will not be back on the streets of Telford and Wrekin for at least another 18 months.

Telford & Wrekin Council will make an application to the Government for parking powers across the borough.
That would take parking enforcement out of the hands of the police and into council control, allowing the local authority to employ traffic wardens in problem places like Newport.
Highways bosses admitted they are unlikely to make the bid before April 2014.
There is then a six-month period for the secretary of state for transport to consider the move.
