Viv Marsh, who runs Postal Plants in Walford Heath, near Baschurch, today said he is 'lucky to be alive' after the heavy metal skeleton of the tunnel came crashing down.

He had been inside the Polytunnel just a few moments before and heard the sound of it collapsing after walking outside.

"If I had been inside it would, without question, have killed me," he said. "The noise it made was incredible. It was so loud. The whole structure collapsed in less than a second.

"You certainly wouldn't think you could die in gardening nursery.

"But if I hadn't walked out I would be in the obituaries column now."
