The launch of Wii U in winter 2012 brought with it all new ways to play with the innovative Wii U GamePad – and with a whole host of fantastic Wii U games lined up it seems gamers will have plenty to look forward to well into 2013 and beyond.

But what titles will be making their way to Wii U over the coming months? Well, following on from a selection of successful launch games including New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land to name just two, there will be action and strategy, plus the return of a popular fitness franchise.

Heroes unite in The Wonderful 101

Nintendo has no shortage of heroes with characters like Mario, Luigi and Link, but in The Wonderful 101, you'll need to recruit an army of all new champions to defend Earth from an invading alien race. Sounds easy? Well, it's not quite as simple as that. You'll need to shape 100 citizens of the planet into a team of mighty conquerors and lead them into battle as hero number 101. Use your Wii U GamePad to do battle, unite your heroes in special attack modes and solve puzzles. If you're a fan of arcade games, The Wonderful 101 could be right up your street.

Command the field of battle in Pikmin 3

If strategy games are more your kind of thing, then Pikmin 3 might be the challenge you've been waiting for when it arrives on Wii U later this year. A unique blend of action and strategy, the game places you in charge of an army that will protect you as you explore the rich, diverse world around you. With a whole range of Pikmin characters to help you out, will you have what it takes to traverse this strange and detailed paradise?
